Apply AfterShip Protection to Shopify Store

Overview



AfterShip protection protects packages from loss, damage, porch piracy, and theft to reduce the losses when shipping issues occur.

AfterShip provides insurance services from third-party insurance company, i.e. InsureShield.
AfterShip Protection is currently only open to business entities based in the USA.

This article explains how to apply AfterShip Protection to your Shopify store.

Prerequisites



If you have a Shopify store and want to apply AfterShip Protection, you may need to:

Fill in the form to tell us basic information about your business. If you get qualified, finish the onboarding, and begin to use AfterShip Protection
Fill in the onboarding information needed
Contact our experts to insert the Protection widget into your store, or you can install it yourself

Step 1: Apply for access to the AfterShip Protection onboarding



Go to the AfterShip Tracking admin > Protection page > Get started



Eligibility criteria


Merchant should have one of the platform conditions: Shopify or Shopify Plus
Merchant must have a business entity based in the USA.
Merchant's store currency should be USD ($).
Merchant's order volume annually should be more than 5K.
Claim ratio should be equal to but not more than 3%.

Fill in the Request access form

Fill in the form to tell us more about your store, including your annual order volume and the eCommerce platform your store is built on.



If you’re qualified, then you can proceed with the onboarding steps.

Step 2: Finish the onboarding information



Before taking you to finish the onboarding, we will check if your store has required permissions to add AfterShip Protection as a product. If not, we will ask you to update your store permissions and proceed with the onboarding process.

Customer onboarding process


Fill in the claim contact information and add a credit card to transfer the premium fees.
The AfterShip Protection service is free for you as a customer. Since customers buy protection in your store, we just need a card to transfer those payments to us.



Step 3: Install the Protection widget in your Shopify store



The final step to onboard AfterShip Protection. Our experts will help you implement it in your store or you can do it yourself.

A. AfterShip assisted widget installation: What do you need to do



Accept our experts’ request for collaborator access to your store. Our experts will make this request as a Shopify Partner. Kindly allow access to Products/Theme on your Shopify admin site.

Where will the AfterShip Protection be installed

If your store is a Shopify Plus store, we'll insert it on the checkout page.
If your store is a Shopify store, we'll insert it in the shopping cart.

We’ll install AfterShip Protection into your test theme, and can go live after running well on your store.

When you finish this three-step process, your customers could place an order with AfterShip Protection to keep peace of mind throughout the whole shopping journey.

B. Self widget installation: What do you need to do

To make sure AfterShip Protection runs well in your store, you may need to check 3 more things:

1. Does your store show AfterShip Protection as a product?

2. Is your fulfillment flow affected?

3. Make sure your store’s coupon won’t be applied to the AfterShip Protection product. If yes, we’ll charge you the original premium price.
