Update Carrier Slug for Non-pending Shipments

Overview



In addition to updating the carrier slug for pending shipments individually and in bulk, AfterShip Tracking supports updating the carrier slug for non-pending shipments on the Shipments dashboard in case you have imported shipments with the wrong carrier slug. Though there is still a tracking status for such shipments, the tracking journey cannot accurately reflect the right tracking status due to an incorrect carrier slug.

Click on a tracking number you want to update the carrier slug for on the Shipments dashboard
On the shipment detail panel, scroll down to Carrier(slug) and click the pencil icon to enter the Update carrier interface or,



Click the pencil icon right next to the carrier directly on the Shipments dashboard to enter the Update carrier interface



AfterShip will suggest the possible carriers that the specific tracking number might belong to based on the tracking number format. Those carriers will be labeled with the gray Possible carrier tag. Select one of those carriers or the one you know the tracking number belongs to.

You can search the carrier by name or slug



a. If you have enabled Email and SMS or configured webhook notifications for your shipments, select the checkbox of the notification method activated to Send updated shipment status once the slug is updated



Updating the carrier slug might also change the shipment status. In this case, if the checkbox(es) is selected, only new updates with the latest tracking status will be sent.
If the checkbox is not selected, AfterShip will not send any notifications for the updated shipments

Click Update

You can update the carrier slug a maximum of 5 times per shipment including both pending and non-pending shipments
The number of updates you are left with can be seen below in the left-hand corner of the Update carrier interface




Update carrier slug for multiple shipments



This method is particularly useful when you are to update the tracking numbers to the same carrier, most certainly based on the tracking number format.

Select the checkbox of tracking numbers you wish to update on the Shipments dashboard
Click More actions and select Update carrier to enter the Update carrier interface




AfterShip will suggest the possible carriers that the specific tracking numbers might belong to based on the format. Those carriers will be labeled with the gray Possible carrier tag. Select one of those carriers or the one you know the tracking numbers belong to.

You can search the carrier by name or slug too

Click Update to update all the selected shipments to the same carrier (slug).



To update multiple shipments to different carriers at once, you can opt for update by CSV method
