Customize Shopify Exchange Order Prefix and Suffix

Merchants can customize exchange order names in Shopify when AfterShip Returns create an exchange order. This will help recognize the exchange order on Shopify and link the original order and exchange order by order name.
This does not apply to upsell exchange orders processed through Shopify checkout. Since these orders are created by Shopify, AfterShip Returns is unable to modify the order name.
Go to Returns > Return policy > Refunds and Exchanges in your AfterShip Returns admin.
Scroll down to Exchange order processing > Shopify exchange order prefix
Enable the option and type in the prefix in the designated field.
Save the changes.
A. Prefix
You can customize it and add a maximum of 10 characters.
Default prefix on AfterShip Returns admin: EXC-
Let's say original order number name is #john1205
Example: EXC-#john1205-1 (This is the first exchange order of the original order)
B. Suffix: The suffix for the new exchange order is added automatically and follows the below logic.
The suffix includes the number of exchange order counts on the original order.
For example: -1, -2, -3
If you have an exchange of exchange:
The original order number is #john1205
The exchange order name is EXC-#john1205-1
The exchange of exchange order name is EXC-#john1205-1-1
If you want to remove the # for your original order on Shopify, then the exchange order will use your new original order format to create an exchange order. You can set this up by following the steps below:
Go to your Shopify account.
Move to Settings > General.
Scroll down to Order ID and remove the said symbol from the prefix field.
Please check the RMA and checkout, if the RMA has an upsell value or charge cost of return by using Shopify checkout, AfterShip returns would not be able to modify the exchange order name, Shopify checkout creates the exchange order automatically after the upsell value is paid.
