AfterShip Reviews enables you to run a reward program to encourage satisfied customers to share positive reviews about your products and store and incentivize them with rewards through discounts coupons and codes.
You can run a multi-tier reward program where customers can earn three types of coupons, each offering increasingly valuable rewards based on the kind of review they provide—whether it's text, photos, or videos.
This will enhance customer engagement and motivate customers to put in extra effort in writing detailed and high-quality reviews to win higher-tier rewards, increasing the overall quality and volume of feedback you receive.
Setting up a reward campaign to boost review generation for your store takes place in two stages.
Stage 1: Configure review type and sources eligible for rewards
Stage 2: Set up each tier of the 3-tier reward system
Let’s look at the configuration of each stage in more detail.
Under the Reward program settings, configure the review type and sources to which the configured reward program will be applicable.
Go to Rewards and referrals > Reward program in your AfterShip Reviews admin.
In the Reward program section, select the checkbox of the desired configurations for
A. Review type

Product reviews
Store reviews
B. Review source
The available options are
Automatic review requests: A review request email is automatically sent when a customer's order is fulfilled or delivered.
Manual review requests: A review request email is manually sent when a customer's order is fulfilled or delivered.
Submitted in store: Reviews that are submitted in your store. It can either be via Review or All reviews widget. In the case of the All reviews widget, the rewards will only be applicable on product and/or store reviews based on the Review type you’ve selected in step 2.A.
Once general reward program settings are completed, move on with the review rewards setup tier-wise.
_Tip_
You can either set up Tier-1 reward for customers who’ve taken the effort of at least writing a review for your products and store or you can go all out and set up Tier-1 to Tier-3 rewards for customers who have put in extra effort to incorporate authenticate images and videos to increase the credibility of the reviews they left, significantly increasing your brand perception and trustworthiness.
If you are setting up multi-tier rewards based on the kind of reviews customers leave, we would suggest offering higher rewards with each tier to appreciate the efforts of your customers genuinely.
Tier-1 reward: This reward will be sent to the customers after they submit a review (text). The customers who upload photos or a video will receive the Tier-2 or Tier-3 reward coupon if enabled. If only the Tier-1 reward is enabled, all the kinds of reviews are eligible for a reward coupon.
Tier-2 reward: This reward will be sent to the customers after they submit a review that includes some genuine photos, but no video if the Tier-3 reward is enabled. If the Tier-3 reward is disabled, the Tier-2 reward will be sent to the customers after they submit a review that includes either photos or a video.
Tier 3 reward: This reward will be sent to the customers after they submit a review that includes a video. To allow customers to upload videos, enable Review videos for your review form in Settings .
Once enabled, customers can upload videos while leaving reviews through the review widget, all reviews widget, and review request emails.
The available options are:
Fixed amount: Offers customers a specific amount off their purchase.
Percentage off: Reduces the value of their purchase by a specified percentage.
Free shipping: Writes off the shipping cost for customers.
If you have chosen any of these discount types for your customers for leaving a review.
Define the discount value.
Offer discount based on the cart value by selecting the checkbox for This discount requires a minimum order subtotal and adding your preferred value.
Input the expiration date for the discount by selecting the checkbox for Discount will expire after and adding your preferred value.
On the Preview window, oversee what will be displayed to the customers once they submit a review and get a reward coupon.
If you have selected the ‘Free shipping’ discount type, the delivery charges will be waived on customer's next order once they submit a review.
You get one extra condition to choose from in this discount type as compared to the aforementioned ones.
Exclude shipping fee over a certain amount: After choosing this option, you will have to define a shipping amount. Now, if the shopper has order delivery charges lower than your defined value, the shipping amount will be exempted upon applying the coupon or vice versa.
This discount requires a minimum order subtotal: The coupon holder has to ensure that his/her cart value matches the minimum order subtotal to be eligible for free shipping.
Discount will expire after: The coupon won’t work if the customer tries to place an order after the number of days that you’ve specified as the stipulated time.
Select the checkbox of Remove "Powered by AfterShip" to remove AfterShip Branding from your reward widgets.
Hit the Save button to make your reward campaign active.
The functionality of a tier might be impacted if one or all of the tiers are enabled. This means each tier’s status impacts the output of the other tiers. Let’s see how.
_Tip_: Increase the intensity of a reward with each tier. The higher the tier, the greater the reward, and the better the review generation.
If only the Tier-1 reward is enabled, all the customers irrespective of the kind of review they submit will receive a reward coupon.
If Tier-1 and Tier-2 rewards are enabled, then
a. Customers who submit pure text reviews will receive a Tier-1 reward.
b. Others who submit photos or video reviews will receive a Tier-2 reward.
If Tier-1 and Tier-3 rewards are enabled, then
a. Customers who submit pure text reviews or photo reviews will receive a Tier-1 reward.
b. Customers who submit video reviews will receive a Tier-3 reward.
If all Tier-1, Tier-2, and Tier-3 rewards are enabled, then
a. Customers who submit pure text reviews will receive a Tier-1 reward.
b. Customers who submit photo reviews will receive a Tier-2 reward.
c. Customers who submit video reviews will receive a Tier-3 reward.
If Tier-2 and Tier-3 rewards are enabled, then
a. Customers who submit pure text reviews will not receive any reward.
b. Customers who submit photo reviews will receive a Tier-2 reward.
c. Customers who submit video reviews will receive a Tier-3 reward.
If only the Tier-2 reward is enabled, then
a. Customers who submit pure text reviews will not receive any reward.
b. Customers who submit photos or video reviews will receive a Tier-2 reward.
If only the Tier-3 reward is enabled, then
a. Customers who submit pure text or photo reviews will not receive any reward.
b. Customers who submit video reviews will receive a Tier-3 reward.
Buyers will not receive all rewards at once even if they match each tier’s eligibility rules. They will only receive the reward corresponding to the highest tier they qualify for.
For example, if a customer submits a review that includes text, a photo, and a video, the review will be recognized as a video review. The customer will then receive a single coupon code based on the video review reward tier (Tier-3).
Reward coupons will be sent to buyers via email approximately 10 minutes after their review is submitted.
If a buyer edits their original review within 10 minutes of submission and adds additional photos or a video, we will reassess whether the updated review qualifies for a higher-tier reward.
If it does, we will auto-generate and send a new coupon code corresponding to the higher tier according to your reward program settings.
AfterShip Reviews offers both reward and referral programs to encourage review submission and promotion. This changes how each of these programs’ settings might reflect on each other when customers leave or share reviews.
A. If the reward program is activated
The customers will be promoted via the review request emails or when they leave reviews on the storefront that they can receive a reward coupon if they choose to add photos or videos to their reviews.
Once the customer submits a review via the review request email or storefront (review widget), a notification mentioning that a reward coupon will be sent to the customer in 10 minutes upon the review submission will be displayed on the review form. This coupon shall be given following your reward program settings.
B. If the referral program is activated along with the reward program
In addition to the reward coupon for submitting the review, if the review matches the star rating and sharing method of your referral campaign, the customer will see the Share your review to unlock a bonus reward! prompt following your referral campaign settings to encourage customers to share the review on social media after submitting and win an additional coupon.
The customers will receive an email with a referral coupon as soon as they share a review on any of the supported social media platform.

2. Configure the discount type for each tier
The available options are:

Scenario 1: You've selected either ‘Fixed amount’ or ‘Percentage off’
If you have chosen any of these discount types for your customers for leaving a review.
