Set Your Default Label Size and File Type

Overview

In AfterShip Shipping, you can set your preferred label size and file type for shipping labels. This setting allows you to generate shipping labels in your chosen format and size each time you print a label from the portal. If the selected carrier doesn't support the chosen size or format, the system will default to the standard label size and file type supported by that carrier.

Admin configuration

To set your default label size and file type:

  1. Go to Settings > Documents in your AfterShip Shipping Admin. This is where you can manage how your shipping documents (like labels) are printed.
  2. Under the Shipping label section, you will find options for the default label size and file format.

  1. Select the preferred size for your shipping labels. The available options are:

  • 4 x 6 PDF: Ideal for most shipping carriers.
  • A4 PDF: A larger format, commonly used for international shipments.
  • 4 x 6 ZPL: A format compatible with Zebra label printers.

  1. You can also choose the default file type for your labels:

  • PDF: A widely supported file type for shipping labels.
  • ZPL: A specialized label format for printers like Zebra.

Important notes:

  • Carrier compatibility: Not all carriers support all label sizes and file formats. If the selected carrier doesn’t support your chosen format, the system will automatically default to the label size and file type that is supported by the carrier.

  • Carrier guide: To check which label sizes and file formats are supported by each carrier, you can refer to the AfterShip Carrier Guide. Click here to view the guide.

By setting your default label size and file type, you ensure a smoother and more efficient shipping experience when generating labels from the AfterShip Shipping portal.
