Currency Matching and Price Sync Between eCommerce Store and TikTok
Plans: All Plans Platforms: All Platforms
AfterShip Feed enables Shopify merchants to ensure currency compatibility when syncing product prices to TikTok Shop. It verifies during the initial onboarding if merchant’s TikTok Shop currency matches the Shopify store’s default or market currency. If mismatches occur, merchants can configure a currency converter to align currency across platforms. Merchants can also automatically sync product prices to TikTok, either through the currency converter or based on Shopify Market settings, to maintain consistent pricing across platforms.

A Shopify store can have one default currency and multiple market currencies, each linked to specific markets. A market can represent multiple countries or regions, but each country or region can only belong to one market.
To configure your market and currency settings in Shopify:
Go to the Shopify Seller Center.
Navigate to Settings > Markets. Here you can configure your markets and the currencies associated with them.
When merchants connect their Shopify store with TikTok Shop, AfterShip Feed checks if the TikTok Shop currency matches the Shopify store currency. The check occurs in a specific sequence:
Check if TikTok Shop (TTS) currency matches Shopify default currency:
Match: If they match, proceed to the next step in the onboarding process that is Sync settings.
Don’t match: If Shopify store's default currency does not match, continue to check if TikTok Shop (TTS) currency matches other configured Shopify Market currencies (check next Step 2.)
Check if TikTok Shop (TTS) currency matches Shopify Market currencies:
Only Active Shopify markets can be used for this check.
Match, and only one region meets the requirements: If the currency matches and only one market region meets the criteria, proceed to the next step.
Match, but multiple regions meet the requirements: If there are multiple regions with the same currency, you’ll need to select a Shopify market-region to map the correct currency and product prices.
No matching market currency or no match found: If there’s no match, or no currency is found, follow these steps to configure a currency converter to handle the conversion.
For merchants using non-Shopify platforms, the AfterShip Feed only checks if the eCommerce platform’s default currency matches the TikTok Shop currency.
Match: If the currencies match, proceed to the next step in the onboarding process that is Sync settings.
Don’t match: If they don’t match, follow this guide to configure a currency converter to manage currency conversion.
Applicable only for Shopify merchants.
When selecting a market, merchants will use the currency and pricing specific to that market when publishing their products on TikTok.
Only Active Shopify markets can be selected.
The price rule for products will still apply based on the chosen Shopify market. For more details, check out this guide on product price sync rules.
If merchants want to switch to a different market in the future, they can do so by going to Channel Settings > Product sync > Shopify market.
If the merchant is using Shopify market currency, AfterShip Feed will retrieve the price in the relevant currency directly from Shopify and syncs it to TikTok without applying any exchange rate calculations.
The currency converter feature enables you to sync product prices between your eCommerce store and TikTok Shop, ensuring consistency and accuracy across different currencies. As a merchant, if your store's default currency is HKD but TikTok Shop currency is USD, you can configure a currency conversion rate to connect stores easily, and align product prices between different stores.
Once you have connected your eCommerce store and TikTok Shop with AfterShip Feed, our system verifies if your store currency matches your TikTok Shop currency. If they don’t, you’ll be alerted of the currency mismatch and consequently asked to set up the currency converter.
The currency converter only needs to be configured if the conditions outlined in Currency matching process between Shopify and TikTok Shop are met.
This section will walk you through configuring the currency converter, calculating product prices, and syncing them to TikTok Shop.
Below the Connect your TikTok Shop store section, the section to configure the currency conversion rate will appear
Set the conversion rate in the currency converter for all the TikTok Shop stores for which there is a mismatch. This rate determines how prices will be converted between currencies.
For example: Your Shopify store is connected to 2 TikTok Shop stores. Your Shopify store uses HKD, while one of your TTSs uses GBP and the other uses USD.
To align your store’s currency with that of your TikTok Shop stores, you can set up the conversion rate of both currencies.
Set the conversion rates by considering the reference given below. Calculate product prices and sync to TikTok Shop automatically.
For example:
Conversion rate: 0.1 GBP (£) is equal to 1 HKD
The price of a product on Shopify is HKD 15.99
As per the currency conversion rate, the price of the product on TikTok Shop would be 15.99 x 0.1 = £ 1.60
If you wish to change the currency conversion rate, go to AfterShip Feed settings , and click Currency converter.
Set the rate as per your requirements, but make sure it is within the acceptable range and hit Save.
The product prices will be calculated based on the new rate and synced to TikTok Shop automatically. Taking the above example, the price of the product on TikTok Shop will be recalculated = 15.99 x 0.15 = 2.39
The option of Currency converter will be visible under your AfterShip Feed settings when there is a mismatch between your eCommerce store and TikTok Shop store currencies, otherwise, the option will not appear.
