How to Add Required Product Fields Before Syncing to TikTok Shop

Overview


TikTok Shop has its own product listing requirements that may differ from those of your eCommerce platform. Before a product can be successfully synced and listed on TikTok Shop, the following information is required:


  • Shipping dimensions: weight, length, width, and height are required for all products
  • Size chart: required for products under categories such as Clothing and Apparel
  • Product certifications: required for products under categories such as Phones and Electronics
  • Barcode: optional but recommended for better TikTok Shop health evaluation (GTIN / EAN / ISBN / UPC at the SKU level)


If any required fields are missing, the product cannot be synced to TikTok Shop. AfterShip Feed detects these gaps and flags affected products so you can resolve them before publishing.


You can add required product fields in the following ways.

1. Channel Listings dashboard


Note: Channel Listings is the current product management interface in AfterShip Feed, available to all users. The legacy Product Syncing dashboard has been deprecated.


All products mapped from your eCommerce platform appear under a Pending status on the Channel Listings dashboard. Products missing required information are labeled Info incomplete and must be updated before they can be published to TikTok Shop.


To edit required fields for an individual product:


  1. Go to Channel Listings in the AfterShip Feed admin.
  2. Locate the product labeled Info incomplete and click Edit to open its details page.
  3. Navigate to the Category required fields tab to update:


  • Product category, brand, and attributes.
  • Size chart (image format, required for applicable categories).
  • Product certification files (up to 3 files in image or PDF format, required for applicable categories).




  1. Navigate to the Shipping tab to enter:
  • Package weight, length, width, and height.





  1. Click Save once all required fields are complete, then publish the product to TikTok Shop.


To bulk-edit required fields:


  1. From the Channel Listings dashboard, click Sub-status under filters and select Info incomplete to surface all products that need attention.
  2. Select multiple products using the checkboxes.
  3. Click Bulk edit product info and fill in the required shipping and category information.
  4. Click Save. The values will be applied to all selected products.

2. Automatically pre-fill required fields


To avoid entering required product information manually for every product, AfterShip Feed offers two automation-based methods:



The Templates feature lets you save shipping dimensions, size chart images, and compliance details once and have AfterShip Feed apply them automatically when products are mapped to TikTok Shop.


  • Shipping info templates auto-fill package weight and dimensions when store data is missing.
  • Size chart templates are automatically applied to applicable product listings.
  • Compliance templates auto-apply regulatory declarations (e.g., CA Prop 65) to relevant categories.




Data priority: If your eCommerce store already provides this information, it takes precedence. Templates act as a fallback for missing data only.


You can create up to 10 templates per type per organization. Templates apply across all connected TikTok Shop stores unless scoped to a specific store.


To create a template:


  1. Go to AfterShip Feed Settings > Templates.
  2. Choose a template, Shipping info, Size chart, or Compliance, and click Create template.
  3. Enter a Template name and Template description to help AfterShip Feed match it to the right products.
  4. Select the applicable Sales channel(s) or leave it set to all stores.
  5. Enter the relevant details and click Save.





You can also save information directly from a product listing while editing a product. Click Save as template next to the relevant section on the Shipping or Category required fields tab.

The Automations feature (formerly Category Templates) lets you configure shipping weight and package dimensions as part of the category mapping setup, so they are pre-applied whenever a new product is auto-mapped under that automation.


To configure shipping details in an Automation:


  1. Go to Automations in the AfterShip Feed admin.
  2. Open an existing automation or click Create automation.
  3. Complete the Select products step.
  4. In the Automation info step, select the Sales channel and TikTok Shop category to which products will be automatically mapped. You can search by name or select from the dropdown. Only one category can be selected per automation.
  5. Move to the Required attributes mapping section to map your eCommerce platform's product attributes to the corresponding TikTok Shop attributes for consistent information across both platforms. For each required attribute, you can either:


  • Select a platform attribute: match an existing attribute from your eCommerce store (supported on Shopify, Magento-2, and Amazon), or
  • Set a custom value: apply a fixed value to all products in this automation (available on all platforms).


  1. Product compliance: For applicable categories, declare whether your products contain substances regulated under California Proposition 65 (Prop 65). Selecting "Yes" will require a warning label on the listing; selecting "No" certifies the product does not contain those substances.
  2. Brand (optional): Assign a brand name to all products mapped under this automation.
  3. Shipping settings: Enter the accurate shipping weight (including packaging) and package dimensions required by TikTok Shop.


  • Sync from your eCommerce platform: Uses dimensions stored in your store.
  • Configure fallback settings: Applies fixed dimensions when store data is missing or does not meet TikTok Shop's requirements.
  • Input fixed dimensions: Sets a fixed size and weight for all products in the automation, useful when your platform does not support these fields.


  1. Products in this automation: Choose Map but do not sync to review and publish products manually, or Map and sync to TikTok Shop automatically to have products go live on TikTok Shop immediately after passing review.
  2. Click Save. All new products added to the specified eCommerce category will be automatically mapped going forward.

Why are required product fields important?


TikTok Shop uses shipping dimensions to calculate fees, determine carrier compatibility, and generate delivery estimates. Size charts and product certifications are required for compliance with TikTok Shop's listing policies. Missing or inaccurate information can prevent products from being published or cause them to be suspended after review.


After syncing products to TikTok Shop, we recommend verifying all required field values in the TikTok Shop Seller Center to confirm accuracy.
