Shopify Collective
Plans : All plans Platforms : All platforms
Shopify Collective empowers retailers to easily source and sell products from other brands within their Shopify stores without the need for inventory management. This tool allows eCommerce businesses to collaborate with other brands, expanding their product selection and driving higher sales through increased cart values.
The integration between AfterShip and Shopify Collective simplifies return management for products sold through the Collective platform, especially when returns need to be routed to different locations. With AfterShip, customers can return supplier products directly to the supplier's warehouse, rather than the retailer’s location, streamlining the return process.
By integrating Shopify Collective, retailers can add products from suppliers to their stores without assuming inventory or fulfillment responsibilities. When a retailer sells a supplier’s product through Shopify Collective, the supplier ships the product directly to the customer. Retailers sell, and suppliers fulfill.
AfterShip supports returns for products sold via Shopify Collective. If a return involves items from different merchants (suppliers), AfterShip allows retailers to configure routing rules to send returns directly to the original supplier’s warehouse. Customers initiate the return through the AfterShip portal, and based on the predefined routing rules, the return is processed accordingly. This includes generating return labels, routing the return to the correct warehouse, and issuing automated refunds to customers.
AfterShip tracks the return and processes the refund according to the rules set in the retailer's returns portal.
Add supplier’s warehouse as return location under AfterShip Returns Shipping if you plan to provide return labels for customers and where you want to receive your returned or exchanged items.
Enable the setting for Limit to products meeting the same routing rule conditions .
Set up routing rules for the supplier warehouse.
Use product SKU, type, or tag as the condition.
Click Save to complete the setup.
Contact AfterShip support or your account manager to enable Shopify Collective.
Once a return is closed in Shopify, the RMA will be marked as Received in AfterShip. Any automation set up for Received status will be triggered automatically.
When multiple routing rules are in place (i.e., different return locations for different products) and Limit to products meeting the same routing rule conditions is enabled, customers can only return items that meet the same routing criteria in a single return request. If a customer selects a product that belongs to a specific routing rule, other products linked to different routing rules will be greyed out. This ensures that each product is routed to its correct destination, and prevents customers from returning multiple items to the wrong warehouse.
