How Does the Write a Review Button Work

Overview



Both positive and negative reviews play a vital role in shaping your brand image. They highlight your strengths and reveal areas for improvement.

AfterShip Reviews enables brands to gather genuine customer feedback through AliExpress, CSV file imports, and review request emails. To simplify the review process, the review widget includes a Write a review button directly on your online store for customer to effortlessly share their post-purchase experience.

Activate 'Write a review' button



Since Write a review button is part of the Review widget and display on it on your product pages, the activation of the button is done through the Review widget editor.

In your AfterShip Reviews admin, go to Display settings > Review widget.
Click Customize to open the Review widget editor.
Under the Settings tab, navigate to Write a review button section.
Select Show button to display the button on the review widget on your store. The option will be selected by default.
Click Save to confirm the changes.

Shopper experience



Upon clicking the button, your store visitors will be asked to fill in a few details like name, email address, title, rating, and a detailed feedback.
At least 10 characters are required to submit a review successfully. Shoppers can go up to 2000 characters.

All the content fields are mandatory to be filled so that you have proper details to evaluate later on.

Shoppers can also upload images of the products that they have bought and leaving a review for. The image field is optional.

Maximum 6 images are allowed.

Shoppers also have the option to upload a video to showcase their customer experience.
By default, the star rating is set to 5, but customers will be able to revise it based on their experience.
The reviews will not show up right away when customers submit them on the website. You will have to review and publish them manually or configure auto-publish settings before everyone can see them.

All the reviews submitted by your store visitors won’t go live immediately. You can review the customer feedback and make them live as per preference. Know more about how to manage reviews here.

You can also configure settings to Auto-publish reviews in the AfterShip Reviews Settings.

a. If Auto-publish reviews are enabled, verified reviews collected from emails or submitted in your store will be automatically submitted upon submission.
b. Reviews that are not auto-published upon submission will be auto-published after 14 days, unless you publish or unpublish them before then.

For every new review submitted, you’ll get an email notification in the following template.

You will be able to change the appearance of the button in the near future.
You can customize your review form in the Settings



Additional options



You can also share the write-a-review link with your customers. If you want to give customers the opportunity to write reviews for a product, you can add “?showWriteReviews=true” at the end of the product page link. By clicking on this link, customers will be taken directly to the write a review popup for that specific product.
