The transit time is calculated from when shipments are picked up by carriers to when they are delivered.
Transit time (in days) = Delivered date - Pickup date
Average transit time (days): It shows the average time shipments took to reach their destination.
P50 transit time (days): It shows the median transit time which means 50% of shipments had a transit time equal to or faster than this and 50% of shipments had a transit time smaller than this.
P85 transit time (days): It shows 85th percentile transit time which means 85% of shipments had a transit time equal to or faster than this.
P95 transit time (days): It shows 95th percentile transit time which means 95% of shipments had a transit time equal to or faster than this.
Average/ Percentile transit times over time (days): These two reports show how the percentile (P50, P85, and P95) and average transit time changes over time. You can select the measurement interval as per your choice (Day, Week, or Month). Using a smaller, more frequent interval (e.g., daily) will result in an increased number of data points plotted on the graph.
Average transit time by destination: It shows the average transit time for your shipments across diverse locations with an interactive map. You can easily discern variations in transit times across different areas and tailor your view by selecting destination countries or states.
You can enhance your analysis by zooming in and out, panning across the map, and clicking on specific locations to unveil a detailed list of shipments. Our interactive map transforms complex shipping data into a visual and user-friendly platform, providing valuable insights at your fingertips.

The dashboard also unveils the volume of shipments successfully delivered to those destinations and the average transit time the shipments meant for these destinations took, ranging from the minimum to maximum transit time.
You can apply additional filters to add depth and perspective to closely monitor the transit time data across countries based delivery status, carrier and service type, and eCommerce store.
Transit time distribution: This line chart shows the transit time based on the number of days and how your shipments are distributed across different transit times. For example, if the transit time of your maximum shipments is 3 , the chart will indicate data as shown below.

Click on the specific line bar to unveil a detailed list of shipments in that specific transit time with all the other relevant details.
You can also access the detailed report highlighting the distribution of total number of successfully delivered shipments across various transit time periods (days).
Transit time by carrier service: It tells you how much transit time varies when you have different carriers for shipment delivery. You can sort the results as well.
For a specific carrier/service (FedEx in the example provided), the metrics include:
a. Delivered shipments: the count of shipments successfully delivered for the specified carrier/service.
b. Transit time (in days):
P85: 85th percentile transit time. 85% of shipments had a transit time equal to or faster than this.
Avg.: the average transit time for all shipments.
Min: the shortest transit time recorded, indicating the quickest delivery days.

You can view lanes categorized by country/region, state, or city.

Before discussing successful delivery attempts over time, let’s look at the basic terminologies.
Delivery attempt: When a delivery agent from a carrier tries to physically drop off a package to its intended address and recipient.
Categorization of delivery attempts
a. Successful delivery attempts: When a delivery driver from a carrier successfully delivers the package to its intended address and recipient or conveys the parcel in some other way, such as handing it to a neighbor.
b. Unsuccessful delivery attempts: When a delivery driver from a carrier, despite the delivery attempt, can’t deliver the package to its intended location and recipient, the tracking number will classify the delivery attempt as unsuccessful.
c. AfterShip recognizes the tracking numbers that have a delivery attempt based on the following scenarios,
i. When the parcel status updates to Failed attempt
ii. When the parcel status updates from Out for delivery to Exception
iii. When the parcel status updates to Available for pick up or Delivered
Delivery attempts classification by number: The number of attempts made by a delivery driver to deliver a package successfully to its intended destination and recipient. A redelivery attempt can be a first delivery attempt, second delivery attempt, third delivery attempt, and so on.
