Overview



AfterShip branded tracking page is a powerful asset that enables seamless tracking of shipments. You can personalize the branded tracking page to promote your brand and engage shoppers post-sales. With AfterShip, you can show AI recommendations on your branded tracking page display. You can even show product recommendations from Nosto to generate additional revenue.

AfterShip Tracking supports three ways to display products recommendations on the branded tracking page.

Supported recommendation engines



AfterShip Tracking supports 3 types of recommendation engines specifically designed for enhancing branded tracking pages. You can opt, enable, and set up the engine that best suits.

1. Enable AfterShip's product recommendations



Select your branded tracking page on which you want to show product recommendation
Click Actions > Edit from the dropdown menu



Click + Add section. Select Product recommendations > Recommendation engine > AfterShip Tracking
Once done, select the store under Product source. If you have connected multiple stores with AfterShip, choose the one for which you want to show product recommendations.



Select recommendation type


Available recommendation types are: AI-powered recommendations, Product collection, Manual selection, and Based on product condition.

a. Manual selection: It means you have to select products manually that you want to recommend to recipients.
b. Product collection: It involves selecting a particular collection that you've created for your store and recommending the products it contains. By default, we consider the home page collection, so change it if you want to recommend the products of any other collection.
c. Based on product condition: Under this, you can set a condition based on the product tag and category that you’ve set on your store.



d. As far as AI recommendations are concerned, we will recommend products based on our AI algorithms. You can decide whether you want to recommend your top-selling products, recently viewed products, or frequently purchased ones.

Here's how our algorithm works:

LogicWe consider the order history of the last 30 days to identify your top-selling products and rank them as per their sale amount.We consider the visitor’s product browsing history of the last 60 days and rank items as per their last visiting time.We display complementary products that shoppers have purchased with the main product. We consider the order history of the last 30 days and rank products by their co-occurrence in orders.
Additional considerations1. Recently viewed product recommendations are only available for users with a Shopify store connection.In case AfterShip cannot locate a relevant product for recommendation, the recommendation logic will instead consider Best sellers by default. This occurs when either the product is new and lacks complementary items, or when it is the first order consisting of a single item.
2. If you use AfterShip Tracking URL, you need to set up Custom domain and keep the same domain with your Shopify store domain. You can also use Proxy URL to embed tracking page.
3. Recently viewed product recommendations are NOT available on iFrame.
4. To enable the Recently Viewed recommendation feature, AfterShip will need to add a script to your store page to track your customers' browsing behavior. Before we do this, we will prompt you with a pop-up window to request your permission for data collection.


Select the Recommendation type and click Save to let product recommendations come into effect

Customize recommendation section content




Give your recommendation section a suitable Title
Select the Number of products you want to show on the page
Click checkboxes under the Display option as per your choice, e.g., Show product name, Show product price, Show compare at price, Show buy button.
Merchants can edit the content under Show buy now button

Configure visibility settings


Devices: Select the device(s)—Desktop and/or mobile you want the product recommendations block on.
Statuses: Select the tracking statuses when the product recommendations block will display.


2. Enable Nosto product recommendation



You must include your tracking page URL in the whitelist of Nosto to enable product recommendations successfully. In case you skip this step, Nosto won't show product recommendations on your branded tracking page.

Step 1: Locate Nosto account ID

A Nosto account ID is a unique identifier for a Nosto account that connects a your website to Nosto. You can find your Nosto account ID in the top-right corner of the Admin dashboard, under the shop name.



Step 2: Enable recommendation visibility

Nosto's Recommendation Visibility controls the overall global visibility of recommendations. To activate any recommendation, Recommendation Visibility needs to be enabled.

Go to Nosto's admin
From the top menu, click Product Experience Cloud > Recommendations > Settings
Toggle on Recommendation Visibility and save the changes



Step 3: Locate Nosto recommendation ID

Go to Nosto's admin.
From the top menu, click Product Experience Cloud > Recommendations > Create New Recommendation > Enter title.
Select Page Type as Other page type and under Placements and segments, select New static placement and Custom Page type.



Configure the Placement title and ID of static element as you want.

On the next page, select Recommendation Type as Order Related. Configure the remaining recommendation settings based on your requirements. For more information on how to set up a recommendation on Nosto, follow the instructions here.

Save changes.
On the Recommendations Overview dashboard, find the recommendation you want to use on tracking page and click its placement.



Copy the placement’s Injected Nosto element, which will be the recommendation id used on tracking page.



Step 4: Enable Nosto recommendations in AfterShip

Go to Tracking page variations > Your tracking pages. Select the page variation where you want to embed Nosto recommendations.
Click Actions > Edit > Product recommendations > Enable Nosto > Paste Account and Recommendation ID > Save.



3. Enable AfterShip Personalization



Plans: Pro, Premium, Enterprise Platforms: Shopify

With AfterShip Personalization, you can activate the smart upsell widget to display personalized product recommendations based on your custom rules, content and theme settings, recommendation types, and A/B testing configuration directly on your branding tracking page.
