Overview
A well-timed coupon can turn a hesitant visitor into a paying customer. With AfterShip Page Builder, you can add a discount code directly to your email signup form, so store visitors receive a coupon the moment they subscribe. This rewards new subscribers, grows your marketing list, and encourages that important first purchase.
When someone submits the form, their details sync to your Shopify admin under Customers, and you can manage those contacts and send emails to them from AfterShip Marketing.
Prerequisites
To use a coupon in your signup form, you need a discount code that already exists in your Shopify store. AfterShip Page Builder references the code you enter, but Shopify is what actually validates and applies it at checkout. If you haven't created the code yet, see Create the Discount Code in Shopify below.
Add a Coupon to the Form
Open your page editor in AfterShip Page Builder and click +Add section from the left-side panel.
Select the Email Signup Form.
In the left panel, find the Coupon section and select Shopify discount code.
In the field that appears, enter the exact discount code you created (or will create) in Shopify. The code is case-sensitive, so match it precisely.
Review the rest of the form fields. Under Form Field, Name and Email are available, with Email required by default.
Create the Discount Code in Shopify
Your coupon works only when a matching discount code exists in Shopify. To create one:
In your Shopify admin, go to Discounts.
Select Create discount code.
Select the Discount type.
Set the discount value, conditions, and expiration date to your preference.
Select Save to make the code active and copy it.
In the code field in AfterShip Page Builder, enter the exact code you have created in Shopify. The two must match, including capitalization.
Add an Image (Optional)
In the Image section, you can upload a visual to make the form more eye-catching.
Select Add image, or drag and drop a file into the upload area.
Use the suggested dimensions of 460 x 536 pixels, a maximum file size of 2 MB, and one of the accepted formats: JPG/JPEG, GIF, or PNG.
Adjust Image width and Image alignment as needed.
Add a Destination URL if you want the image to link somewhere.
Set Up the Countdown Timer (Optional)
A countdown timer creates a sense of urgency that can lift conversions.
In the Countdown Timer section, select Show.
Select Custom style to open the timer settings.
Set the Start time and End time. AfterShip recommends keeping the interval within 3 days to create a strong sense of urgency.
Choose your Time zone.
Under Color, set the Timer number and Countdown background colors to match your brand.
The countdown timer appears on your live page only during the period you set. To turn it off, select Hide.
Edit the Form Text
Use the Signup Form tab to control what visitors see before they subscribe.
Header: The headline of your form, for example, "Get 10% OFF your first order!" (up to 50 characters).
Description: The supporting line beneath the header, for example, "Join our email list to receive updates and exclusive offers." You can adjust font size and bold formatting here.
Button text: The call to action on the submit button, for example, "Get discount code" (up to 30 characters).
Set the Success Message
Use the Success Message tab to control what visitors see after they subscribe. This is where you deliver the coupon.
Header: A short confirmation message, for example, "Get 10% OFF!" (up to 50 characters).
Description: Instructions for using the coupon, for example, "Just add this coupon to your order to save." (up to 100 characters).
Button text: The next step you want subscribers to take, for example, "Shop now" (up to 30 characters).
Destination URL: The page the button links to, such as your store homepage or a collection.
Save and Publish
When your form is ready, select Save to keep your changes.
Save and publish to make the form live on your store.
Use Preview to check how the form looks before publishing.
Troubleshooting
The coupon code isn't working at checkout.
The most common cause is that the code doesn't exist in Shopify yet, or it doesn't match. Confirm that you created the discount in Shopify > Discounts and that the code is spelled and capitalized exactly as it appears in AfterShip Page Builder.
The discount field shows an error.
If the Coupon section shows "Enter a discount code" in red, the field is empty. Either enter a valid code or select No coupons if you don't want to offer a discount.
The countdown timer isn't showing on my live page.
The timer displays only during the start and end times you set. Confirm the current date and time fall within that window, and check that the time zone is correct.
The discount applies, but the amount is wrong.
AfterShip Page Builder only references the code. The discount value, minimum purchase requirements, and eligibility rules all come from Shopify. Review the code's settings in Shopify > Discounts.
Subscribers aren't appearing in my contact list.
Confirm the form is published, not just saved. Submitted contacts sync to Shopify admin under Customers and are available in AfterShip Marketing.
The code expired.
Discount codes in Shopify can have end dates. If a previously working coupon stops applying, check whether it has passed its expiration date in Shopify.
