Manage TikTok Shop Returns with Happy Returns

Learn how to connect Happy Returns with AfterShip Feed to manage TikTok Shop returns, synchronize refunds, and configure the integration successfully.

Overview

If you use Happy Returns to manage your Shopify returns, you can also use it to manage your TikTok Shop order returns through AfterShip Feed.

With this integration, AfterShip Feed connects Happy Returns and TikTok Shop, allowing your team to continue managing return requests and refunds from the Happy Returns portal while keeping Shopify and TikTok Shop synchronized.

How the Happy Returns integration works

In Happy Returns, the seller can configure which return methods to offer buyers — Mail return, Return Bar, or both. The following sections explain how a return request moves from the buyer to the refund.

Scenario A: Mail return (Shipping label)

In this scenario, the buyer receives a shipping label with a tracking number. The seller can trigger the refund from the Happy Returns portal at any time after the return merchandise authorization (RMA) is created.

Scenario B: Return Bar (QR code drop-off)

In this scenario, the buyer receives a QR code and drops off the package at a Happy Returns Return Bar. Happy Returns manages all shipping and inspection, and then sends a webhook to AfterShip Feed to trigger the refund.

AfterShip Feed triggers the TikTok Shop refund only after Happy Returns accepts the returned items.

Setup Checklist

Before enabling Return & Refund Sync, make sure the following requirements are met:

  • This is a whitelist feature. Contact AfterShip Support to check your eligibility and get your store enabled.

  • If you want to offer Return Bar drop-off, you also need a Happy Returns retailer ID for the Headless API, and refund_on_dropoff must be configured in your Happy Returns account settings.

  • Enable Auto-link product SKUs and Order sync in AfterShip Feed.

  • Your TikTok Shipping Method is configured as Seller Shipping. TikTok Shipping is also supported if the buyer's address is not encrypted.

Enable Return & Refund Sync

  1. In AfterShip Feed, go to Settings > Return and refund sync.

  2. Turn on the Return sync toggle.

  3. Select Manage using a returns app.

  4. Connect a Return app (Happy Returns).

  5. Click Save.

Limitations

When a buyer uses Speedy Refund, AfterShip Feed cannot reject the refund if the returned item fails the Happy Returns inspection or if the seller rejects the return in the Happy Returns portal.

  • In this case, the seller must submit a post-refund appeal in TikTok Shop Seller Center (Manage Returns/Refunds) to request compensation.

  • Speedy Refund is a TikTok Shop program that refunds buyers immediately after they drop off their return package with the carrier, before the seller inspects the returned item.

  • When Speedy Refund is used with Happy Returns, the refund is issued regardless of the inspection result.
