Overview

AfterShip Returns offers a two-way integration with MintSoft, a warehouse management system (WMS) used by third-party logistics (3PL) providers. The integration enables merchants to:

  1. Create a return in MintSoft when an RMA is approved in AfterShip Returns.

  2. Automatically mark the RMA as received in AfterShip Returns when the warehouse confirms receipt of all returned items in MintSoft.

This guide walks you through installing the MintSoft app, connecting your account, and setting your return location.

Before you begin

Requirements

  • An active AfterShip Returns account.

  • An active MintSoft account.

  • Return labels generated in AfterShip Returns through supported AfterShip carrier integration.

  • Generate label with AfterShip Returns selected when you approve each RMA.

Permissions

  • Admin access to the AfterShip admin, so you can install apps and edit return routing rules.

  • A MintSoft account with return permissions, including permission to confirm returns.

Limitations

  • Only return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) approved with the Ship with a return label method sync to MintSoft.

  • Return labels generated outside AfterShip Returns don't sync to MintSoft.

  • The integration doesn't create exchange orders in MintSoft.

  • Changes made to an RMA after the return reaches MintSoft aren't synced back to MintSoft.

  • Partial receiving doesn't mark the RMA as received, because MintSoft must receive every item first.

  • AfterShip checks the receiving status in MintSoft on a schedule, so the status isn't instant.

Step 1: Install the MintSoft app

Install the app to link your MintSoft account to AfterShip Returns.

  1. Access AfterShip Returns Admin: Log in to your AfterShip Returns admin dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Apps Section: Go to the Apps > Directory section.

  3. Find MintSoft Integration: Search or locate the MintSoft integration from the list of available options.

  4. Install the Integration: Select the MintSoft integration and click Get started.

  • On the App installation dialog box, click Install App.

  • Based on the AfterShip product admin you are accessing from, the Integrate with dropdown will be auto-selected for that product.

Step 2: Connect your MintSoft account

Enter your credentials so AfterShip Returns can create returns in MintSoft.

  1. Enter your MintSoft Username.

  2. Enter your MintSoft Password.

  3. Enter a Store Name that identifies this MintSoft connection.

  4. Click Install to complete the connection.

Important: Use a MintSoft account with return permissions. Without them, returns fail to sync, or reach MintSoft unconfirmed.

Step 3: Select MintSoft as your return location

Route returns to the MintSoft warehouse so receiving updates reach AfterShip Returns.

  1. In the AfterShip Returns admin, go to Return routing rules.

  2. Select the return zone you want to update.

  3. Add a routing rule, or edit an existing rule.

  4. Go to Ship with a return label > Prepaid return labels.

  5. Select MintSoft under Return location.

To stop the sync, select a different return location in the rule, or uninstall the MintSoft app from Apps > Directory.

What your users will experience

After completing these steps:

  • Approving an RMA creates a matching return in MintSoft.

  • Returns that can't be matched to a MintSoft order are created as external returns.

  • The return in MintSoft shows the items, quantities, and return label tracking number.

  • AfterShip Returns marks the RMA as received after MintSoft receives every item.

  • Shoppers see the updated return status in your returns page.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Cause

Solution

No return appears in MintSoft after you approve an RMA

The RMA doesn't use the Ship with a return label method

Approve the RMA with Ship with a return label, then generate the label in AfterShip Returns

No return appears in MintSoft, and the RMA uses a return label

The label was generated outside AfterShip Returns

Select Generate label with AfterShip Returns when you approve the RMA

The return in MintSoft stays unconfirmed

The connected MintSoft account can't confirm returns

Confirm the return in MintSoft, then add return permissions to the account

An RMA edit doesn't reach MintSoft

Updates aren't synced after the return is created

Apply the change to the return in MintSoft manually

The RMA isn't marked as received

MintSoft hasn't received every item yet, or the next status check is pending

Receive the remaining items in MintSoft, then wait for the next status check

No exchange order appears in MintSoft

The integration doesn't create exchange orders

Create the exchange order in MintSoft

FAQ

1. Does the MintSoft integration create exchange orders?

No. The integration syncs the return only. Create exchange orders in MintSoft yourself.

2. Why isn't my return confirmed in MintSoft?

The connected MintSoft account doesn't have permission to confirm returns. The return is still created, so confirm it in MintSoft and update the account permissions.

3. Do RMA edits sync to MintSoft after the return is created?

No. Item and quantity changes made after the return reaches MintSoft aren't pushed to MintSoft. Apply those changes in MintSoft.

4. Does partial receiving mark the RMA as received?

No. MintSoft must receive every item on the return before AfterShip Returns marks the RMA as received.

5. How soon does the received status appear in AfterShip Returns?

AfterShip checks the return status in MintSoft on a schedule rather than through a webhook. The status appears at the next check, not instantly.

6. Why isn't the return in MintSoft linked to an order?

AfterShip couldn't match the original order in MintSoft. The return is still created, as an external return with no linked order.

7. Which return method works with MintSoft?

Only Ship with a return label. The label must be generated in AfterShip Returns through an AfterShip carrier integration.

Key takeaways

  • Approving an RMA with Ship with a return label creates a matching return in MintSoft, with items, quantities, and the tracking number.

  • The label must be generated in AfterShip Returns using Generate label with AfterShip Returns, or nothing syncs.

  • Your MintSoft account needs return permissions, otherwise the return is created but left unconfirmed for someone to confirm manually.

  • The RMA is marked as received only after MintSoft receives every item, and the status arrives at the next scheduled check rather than instantly.

  • Returns are one-way after creation: RMA edits don't reach MintSoft, unmatched orders become external returns, and exchange orders aren't created at all.
