Unable to Send Notifications

Unable to Send Notifications in AfterShip Tracking: follow setup steps, configure key options, verify behavior, and troubleshoot workflow issues.

Overview

There can be a number of reasons why you are not able to send the tracking updates to your customers. Read through the following reasons:

  1. Only tracking numbers imported after upgrading to the relevant plan are entitled to delivery notifications.

  2. You have set up carefully and enable notification triggers at Notifications > Emails and SMS.

  3. Check if you're using a valid tracking number that returns tracking results.

  4. Shipment is already delivered before adding to AfterShip.5. Ensure the appropriate notification flows (e.g., "In Transit," "Out for Delivery," "Delivered") are enabled for the carriers and orders you want to track.

  5. Newly created notification flow content may require approval. Emails will not be sent until the content is approved.

  6. Verify your sending domain to ensure email delivery. Unverified domains may block email notifications.

  7. Notifications are only sent for events that occur after the notification flow is enabled. For example, if a flow is enabled after an order is delivered, no emails will be sent for that shipment.

If email notifications are disabled, ensure that webhooks are enabled. Webhooks allow your system to receive events for the latest status changes, which can then be used to trigger notifications through your own system.

We avoid sending notifications for shipments that are delivered before import to avoid sending misleading notifications for shipments that were delivered ages ago.Notifications are also not sent retroactively for past events. For example, if a shipment is imported into AfterShip and is already in a later status (e.g., "In Transit"), earlier-status emails (such as "Pending") will not be sent.
