Error: Failed to Generate Labels

This error typically occurs when there is a mismatch between the selected package type and the carrier service type. To resolve this:

  • Verify that the package dimensions and box type you selected are supported by the carrier service level you are using.

  • Adjust the package type or service level as needed and reattempt label generation. Another cause of this error can be invalid shipment data, such as overly long address fields. For example, the "Town" field exceeding the allowed character length can trigger this issue. To fix:

  • Review the shipment and address details, especially the Town/City field, and shorten or correct any overly long values.

  • Reattempt label generation after correcting the data.### Error: data.shipment.ship_to.country must be the same as shipper_account.country for return shipment This error occurs when the return destination country (ship_to.country) does not match the country associated with the shipper’s carrier account. To resolve this:

  • Verify the country on your return address in the system.

  • Confirm that the carrier account you selected for the return label is registered for the same country as the return address. Important Note for UPS Users: UPS return shipments require the ship_to country to match the UPS account’s country. For example, a UPS account based in the USA can only generate return labels for addresses in the USA. Ensure alignment between the return address country and the UPS account country, or use a carrier account based in the destination country.

Best Practices for Return Label Setup

Setting Default Carrier and Package Details

To streamline the return label generation process, you can set up routing rules to define default carrier/service and package details. Here’s how:

  1. Create routing rules with conditions that apply to all returns (e.g., by location or store-wide conditions).

  2. Configure the action to use your desired carrier/service (e.g., UPS) and package type (e.g., Customer Supplied Package).

  3. Ensure that the shipping information in the rule matches your carrier’s allowed services and package types.

Avoid using conditions that rely on Customer Tags if you are not on Shopify, as this may cause issues.
