How to Enable and Customize SMS Opt-in at Shopify Checkout

Overview

Having your customerโ€™s consent to receive marketing SMSes at checkout is one of the best ways to quickly grow your SMS list, as the customer is already highly engaged with your brand and about to make a purchase. AfterShip SMS allows your customers to subscribe to your marketing SMSes through a checkbox available on the Shopify checkout page.

How to enable SMS opt-in at Shopify checkout


  1. Log in to your Shopify admin > Go to Settings > Checkout


  1. Scroll down to locate the Marketing options section
  2. Select the checkbox labeled SMS (A blue SMS consent callout should appear below it, asking you to create your terms of service and privacy policy if you haven't)
  3. Hit the Save button in the top-right corner of the page


Now, your customers will be able to see the SMS opt-in checkbox on the Shopify checkout page (See the image below).


How to customize the SMS opt-in checkbox


  1. From Checkout > Go to the Checkout language section
  2. Click Manage checkout language
  3. Search SMS in the Filter items bar to quickly locate the related fields


  1. Locate the Checkout marketing section and customize the message as per your choice
